Parents’ Interaction with School Leaders of Manav Rachna on NEP 2020 related to ECCE & Foundational Stage

Faridabad Hindustan ab tak/Dinesh Bhardwaj : 28 September A Parents’ Interaction was organized with the leaders of Manav Rachna International Schools (MRIS) to apprise them with the framework of new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 related to ECCE and Foundational Stage. Principals of Eight MRIS Schools across Faridabad, Gurugram, Noida, Ludhiana and Mohali interacted with the parents on various aspects of NEP.
Dr. Dhriti Malhotra, Director Principal, MRIS-46, Gurugram; Ms. Alpana Baveja, Principal, MRIS-51, Gurugram; Ms. Mamta Wadhwa, Director Principal, MRIS-14 Faridabad; Ms. Seema Anis, Principal, MRIS-21C Faridabad; Dr. Suchitra Bhattacharya, Principal, MRIS-Charmwood; Ms. Anju Dhawan, Principal, MRIS-Ludhiana, and Ms. Taruna Vashisht, Principal, MRIS-Mohali interacted with the proud parents of MRIS.
Ms. Sanyogita Sharma, Director, MRIS shared that teaching pedagogy at MRIS is already aligned with National Education Policy 2020. She continued, “Curriculum Principles of NEP, i.e. holistic development, synergy in curriculum, seven areas of learning, & others completely resonate with the existing curriculum of MRIS”. She shared the NEP Curriculum Principles for better understanding of parents and how MRIS has been inculcating and will inculcate all the principles in its system. Contemporary subjects such as artificial intelligence, design thinking, organic living, environmental education, global citizenship education through UNSDGs and others will be included in the curriculum.
As concerned with ECCE and Foundational Stage, she shared that the learning at MRIS is highly experiential and activity-based subject teaching including Literacy, personal, social & emotional development; communication & language; expressive arts and design; and mathematics. Mother tongue is proposed to be the medium of instruction till Grade V and children will be exposed to more than two languages that will enhance multilingualism.
MRIS Principals shared various aspects of dimensions of NEP 2020 for ECCE and Foundational Stage including pre-school learning, play-based learning, multilingualism, holistic learning, skill development, experiential learning, inclusive education, flexible horizons of streams, and assessment framework. Students will have an option to choose from Standard and Advanced level of examination on the basis of their competencies. NEP 2020 emphasizes play-based learning for which reduced curriculum content will be introduced for the kids, and curriculum at MRIS is already play-based and experiential that makes it highly integrated and challenging. The play-based, discovery-based, enquiry-based, and analysis based learning will be holistic, integrated, enjoyable and engaging, and will focused on cognitive development, life skills inculcation, and inculcating values.
Considering the NEP 2020, MRIS already has skill development as a part of curriculum, Annual projects based on UNSDGs, curriculum integrating seven areas of learning, and future skills program including coding, artificial intelligence, machine learning, & other vocational areas shall be introduced.
