Manav Rachna University introduces AWS Educate Cloud Computing Curricula in B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering
Faridabad Hindustan ab tak/Dinesh Bhardwaj : July 16 2020 Manav Rachna University has announced that it will adopt cloud computing curricula from the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate global initiative into its mainstream college syllabus to help develop the next generation of cloud professionals. The cloud computing content from AWS Educate will be offered as part of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering program starting in September 2020.
Under B. Tech Computer Science & Engineering, various specializations are offered through elective baskets in the following areas: mobile app development, data engineering, soft computing software engineering, networking and cloud computing. Students also get an option to opt for online courses offered by the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). Soft skills including aptitude, quantitative analysis and verbal ability along with foreign language courses are offered to the students so that they get ready for a competitive environment. Students are also exposed to work on projects in cross domain under engineering exploration course at the end of first year. Strong industry connections provide the University with updated curriculum that is relevant today. Students also receive opportunities for internships and placements with organizations of repute.
“The need for cloud computing skills is increasing worldwide as most of the companies are either adopting cloud services, or are moving towards adoption. Cloud computing from AWS Educate will equip students to build and deploy applications rapidly and efficiently on the cloud. Apart from specialized courses in cloud computing, our core computer science courses also cover cloud concepts in database management, networking, and operating systems, that give students an edge in preparing for practical cloud computing based roles,” said Prof. I. K. Bhat, Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna University.
He added, “By working with AWS Educate, we can provide students with updated knowledge and the skills, as well as enhance their professional development and access to AWS Cloud services. This collaboration will virtually bring people from the industry to the classroom, and provide mentoring support to our students. The future is hard to predict, but cloud computing will grow, and have a significant effect on all aspects of our society.”
All students participating in B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering program will be enrolled in AWS Educate, Amazon’s global initiative to provide students comprehensive resources for building skills in the cloud, and be provided with AWS Promotional Credits to gain real-world, hands-on experience using AWS cloud technology. With a focus on real-world, applied learning experiences, AWS Educate introduces cloud computing technologies driving innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence, voice and facial recognition, gaming, medical advancements, and more. It is an academic gateway for the next generation of IT and cloud professionals.
Supporting this effort is the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), a not-for-profit industry association and the apex body for the technology industry in India. NASSCOM will facilitate greater industry participation by engaging key employers in information technology (IT) and information technology enabled services (ITES) segments in India, to build a talent pipeline equipped with cloud skills.
