Shoppers come visiting the Surajkund Mela
Faridabad Hindustan ab tak/Dinesh Bhardwaj : As the Surajkund crafts Mela progresses so does the excitement and fun. The crowds are coming in large numbers and soaking in the vibe of cultural heritage of the country. A large number of visitors are vying for the handicraft and handloom products especially from Jammu and Kashmir and Uzbekistan.
There colours of Central Asia are on display in the Uzbekistan pavilion. There is a plethora of fabrics, wood work, calligraphy and traditional crafts from Uzbekistan. Visitors are getting a real traditional treat and can add some exquisite ethnic styles to their wardrobe with traditional handloom items from across the country. Artisans bestowed with national awards are displaying their traditional fabrics and dress materials from various Kashmir, West Bengal to Telangana. Ikat work from Uzbekistan used in fabrics and embroidery are especially garnering attention of the collectors of international fineries.
There is an array of traditional handloom and handicrafts to discover at Surajkund Mela, make sure you buy bagsful and help such crafts flourish for times to come.
It was also first day for school competitions and over 173 students participated in the rangoli competition. The excitement was evident on the faces of these young participants. The children showed amazing creative skills with creations like Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Themes on Kashmir and many other social messages.

Third Prize – Government Girls Sr. Secondary School, Sector 8, Faridabad, – 75th Year of Independence Theme.
The cultural evening is lined up with a mesmerising performance by trio of Faizan – Hassan – Zeeshan of the Nizami Bandhu from New Delhi belonging to New Delhi belonging to Harpur Gharana. The sheer popularity of the trio is a promise of a jam packed evening resonating sufi vibes.
The Mela will remain open to public from 12.30-9.30 daily from 19th march-04 April, 2022.
