Higher Cut offs are expected in NEET this year, results will be announced soon
New Delhi Hindustan ab tak/Dinesh Bhardwaj : 15 October National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is one of the highest competitive examinations which open doors to some of most prestigious colleges for medical students. Since the day Union Education Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal has announced the dates of results, this news is keeping all the aspirants awake at night. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the NEET Examinations were put on hold until further notice by the government but after a prolonged discussion in the supreme court on the conduct of the NEET Examination, it went smoothly with compulsory measures of COVID-19 on September 13. All the necessary precautions were taken by the government in all the centers. A total of 85-90 percent of 15.97 lakh candidates appeared in the examinations and those students who were not able to appear due to being in containment zones or being tested positive for covid-19, they have another opportunity to give the test.
The results examination will be announced on 16th October and the cut off for this year are likely to be higher. Earlier the results were to be announced on the 12th of October but after the government decision, the second exam has been conducted on October 14. The one who could not appear in the first exam gets a chance to appear in the second examination. The main reason for the cut off being high can be the lockdown because students got much time to prepare themselves for exams. Also, this year the strength of test givers was more as compared to the previous year. After analyzing the examination paper the experts state that this year’s paper was very easy as compared to the previous year.
Geeta Jain, Founder of Mediconation said; “The NEET Examination is the most important examination in a student’s life and this year has even made it worrisome for the students. Now the results of NEET are to be announced on October 16. The main criteria on which the cut off will be decided is the number of candidates and the difficulty level of the newspaper and the things which are in favor of the students this year. The paper was easy and the physics section was easier as compared to last year so it’s likely to be higher this year. Also, NTA has kept the relaxation for the students this year due to the pandemic. The general category students need to score 50 percentile and the SC, ST & OBC categories require 40 percentile to qualify for the NEET exam. It’s the best decision to announce the results as early as possible to avoid further delay in the academic session. I believe the results will be pleasing for all the aspirants and all the best to them for their future.”
